Q: I am over 65 and retired, and have an account-based pension in a self-managed superannuation fund valued at $1.152 million that I commenced with $756,000 when the transfer balance cap (TBC) was $1.6 million. Can you please explain how TBC debits and credits, and indexation work?

I am told by the ATO that I have more than $1 million as my personal transfer cap. I also have $730,000 in an industry fund in an accumulation account that I am looking to roll into the SMSF and add to my existing pension.
