    Origin Energy and the NSW government are in detailed talks to extend the life of the Eraring coal-fired power station on growing political fears of potential blackouts between 2025 and 2027.

    As energy users lamented the lack of transparency over any state-backed plan to push NSW’s biggest coal-fired power station beyond its planned closure next year to as late as 2029, former state treasurer Matt Kean warned against wasting taxpayer funds.
