The flood of billions of dollars in institutional money into the bitcoin market leading up to the digital currency’s next halving could alter the impact of the landmark events going forward, according to Australian crypto traders.

The next halving is expected to take place sometime on April 20 (AEST) and will effectively limit the supply of bitcoin to the public by doubling the number of transactions needed for bitcoin “miners” to produce a new coin. The halving at the weekend will mark the fourth event of its kind since the first bitcoin was produced on January 3, 2009.
