Star rejects claims it misled regulator

One of Star Entertainment’s senior executives has conceded the struggling casino group did not check the source of wealth of more than 22,000 high-risk customers, despite assurances to the regulator that they were complete.

Adam Bell SC, who is running an inquiry to assess whether Star had done enough to win back its Sydney licence, accused the group’s chief control officer, Rav Townsend, of misleading the Independent Casino Commission.
