Although some companies shine brightly on individual platforms, few show an ability to juggle many mediums, as does professional services firm Deloitte. The bean counters use, among others, an internal social network called Yammer, an application developed for Facebook that drives employee referrals called Find Like Minds, a YouTube channel to introduce its people and multiple Twitter accounts, such as @GreenDot and @FederalBudget, which give insights into the firm and facilitate discussion.
Marketing Is Us director Anne Sorensen says Deloitte is a “thought leader in this space”.
Leadership aside, the results speak for themselves. In 2011, 25 per cent of Deloitte Digital’s new employees came from social media referrals, saving the firm millions of dollars on fees to recruiters.
