This is the first year that BRW and Inventium have teamed up to look at which companies are the most innovative in Australia.

While the panel took a particular approach to judging, we thought it would be fun to get the public’s perception of innovation.

So we’ve had voting open for a week and the winner according to the public is Apricus Australia – the solar heating specialists. In second place was Buzz Products – the creator of the bag tag for Qantas - and in third place was Janison – the online education company.

We had over 2000 votes that from unique IP addresses and we also added in a time filter to take out voters that took a very short time to vote on the reasoning that they were not taking the time to read all the entries.

Votes were weighted according to how many first, second or third place votes were received.
